Cantaloupe Melon

One of the strangest things about the Cantaloupe melons is that, unlike elsewhere, the Japanese view it as a status symbol just like some view rare wines and whiskies in similar light. With regards to it's taste and flavor, not much is known and hence one might just see them being used as decorative pieces. However, these special melons are known to be perfectly spherical in shape, with a patterned and a smooth rind on the exterior. They will be presented in an ornate box, with the T-shaped stalk along with the fruits. We just might see more of these kind of luxury fruits changing hands.
